This durable, self-healing, reversible cutting mat is 3 millimeters thick. Not just for cutting; it can also be used as a desk blotter or general-purpose work mat.
Whether you like to use a rotary blade or a straight utility blade, the composite vinyl construction of this mat will be able to handle it. The design allows for a long-lasting, non-glare, surface that can be cut and slashed constantly without showing marks or cutting lines. Non-stick surface is impervious to abrasions and liquid spills.
Printed grid pattern includes guidelines for 45 and 60 degree angles and 0.5 inch grid lines. Find the perfect center on any project with zero centering lines. All 4 edges are fully numbered and graduated with 0.125 inch hash marks that extend beyond the zero base line for convenience. Mat sizes 24 x 36 inches and above include internal horizontal and vertical graduated hash marks.

Product Description

Extra durable self-healing and reversible cutting mats are green on one side, black on the other and are 3mm thick. Both sides have grid marks and a 1 inch grid pattern. It had my name on it so it eliminated the need to label it. LOL. That said it's done everything it's said it does. I mentioned in other reviews I was into a few hobbies. Electronics and soldering, vaping, and it's most useful application in custom plastic model kits. I bought it long before I got into Gunpla and I got the most use out of the mat in that application for allowing me to set masking tape and cutting it to shapes I need to cover from spray painting. The grid and angle lines are great for measuring and marking plastic plates as well. It acquired damage from my soldering (I absent-mindedly just set the iron on the mat and got irreparable burn holes) but that isn't gonna deduct points from the score. There were other places on the mat I can use the grid lines. If one side gets too damaged, I'll just flip it over. It does self heal from the hundred of cuts I've made into it. The one gripe about it is that it slides if you're slicing harder materials (like plastic plates), but that's to be expected if a mat has two sides. If your name is Alvin, buy it. If it's not, buy it anyway. It's a great mat.

I received 2 of the 24 x 36 mats as a birthday gift and my cutting table needed a bit more to cover it entirely. I had ordered another brand in what was supposed to be 9 x 12 and the brand was not of the quality of Alvin. These are exactly as described. The 9 x 12 was exactly 9 x 12. I also check that the markings on the mats are exact and the Alvin brand is. Even more impressive, once you line them up side by side, the distance between the markings across the mats is also exactly right. When side by side, the edge marking on one mat is 1 inch distance to the edge marking across to the next. You do need to line up the mats to be the same direction. I set the logo to be in the upper left as each one is laid out on the table. That's a very, very good indication of quality. The other brand was not even 9 x 12 - it was not quite 8 3/4 by 11 and the markings weren't properly spaced meaning they failed the 'ruler' test. I can recommend this brand without any hesitation. I did have to leave the large mats out for a full 24 hours to air out. Note: For those new to cutting mats, the dimensions of cutting mats refers to the overall dimensions and not the lengths that the markings go out to. A 9 x 12 mat will have marking lines for 8 x 11 or should have. I also recommend using a trusted ruler or measuring tape to double check any mats markings to make sure they are true. Thanks to trial and error over the years, I learned not to assume they are.

This is a great cutting mat. It may be worth noting that the product picture is inaccurate and the mat itself is very small, without any diagonal lines on it. The mat is solid and well-made, with one side a black colour and the other green. This mat looks great and works great.

The most impressive thing about it is the 'self-healing' abilities, which are rather impressive. I have made hundreds of scratches of varying depths to see how it would hold out. The mat doesn't completely heal from most scratches, regardless of how deep they are. However, when I have made really deep scores into the mat, they have dramatically faded to be more like normal scratches, in a matter of just a few hours. The only problem is that the lines fade off when scratched, but it takes quite a lot of scratching to affect the functionality of the mat.

This is a great product that should last a while due to its self-healing properties.

I do a lot of packing and and shipping and have always used double layered corrugated cardboard as a cutting mat. The table I cut on is 36"x 84", so the size of the mat is perfect for my setup. From cutting cardboard, foam board, sandwiches, this thing has been amazing. If you are thinking about getting a large cutting mat, this is the one. Price and quality cannot be beaten here. These mats save your blades from dulling at the tip and allow for more accurate cuts. I use this almost every day and will follow up this review in a few months to review its durability.
