now
Some of the things that are inspiring my work right now in the studio: tools, books, YouTube channels, podcasts and more.
Working on the final video for the Outpost project. This project has been years in the making and the photo shoot with Trent Bell Photography was the perfect way to close this chapter. I’m so pleased with the final images and will be interviewing Trent’s studio manager + retoucher on September 24th about the editing process and final images. New content coming soon.
READING
I’ve been so much better about picking up and putting down books that don’t resonate having used Audible for a few years now. Here’s a partial reading list:
Never Enough - Andrew Wilkinson
The Wayfinders - Why Ancient Wisdom Matters in the Modern World - Wade Davis
Astrophysics for People in a Hurry - Neil DeGrasse Tyson
See my full reading list here.
Audible is making quick work of my reading list!
LISTENING
Old School Metallica. My first live concert was a Metallica show in 1988 in Weedsport, NY. I haven’t seen them play in years, so we splurged on two, epic, back-to-back shows on August 2 + 4 at Gillette Stadium. I came away no voice, a sore neck and there may have been a hangover involved. I revert to my 16-year-old self at metal shows and it’s nice to know that he’s still in there! So much fun.
Reaching Financial Independence at 50 (Two Sides of FI video) After years of diligent saving, living below our means, and investing, my wife and I have reached our FI number! We’re now officially empty nesters with our boys off at college and we’re retooling 30X40 so we can operate it together from anywhere we choose to travel in the world.
LEARNING
Canon R6 MKii - with a full travel schedule, I decided to treat myself to an upgraded camera that shoots 4K video + an upgraded 24-70mm f2.8L RF lens to go with it. Taking photos and editing them after returning expands the surface area of travel for me.
